Summer in Hermitage Amsterdam
White Night on the Amstel, 20 and 21 June 2009
The midnight sun will shine during the opening weekend of the Hermitage Amsterdam. From 10 am on Saturday 20 June to 5 pm on Sunday 21 June, the Hermitage Amsterdam will stay open around the clock for museum goers, tourists and Amsterdammers. You can spend hours strolling through the exhibition At the Russian Court, or enjoy the workshops, gala performances and concerts that are taking place throughout the weekend. Visit the Study Centre or one of the museum shops, enjoy the garden beneath the starry sky or pop into Café-Restaurant Neva. Come and join what promises to be a memorable experience!
Summer at Hermitage Amsterdam, June – August 2009
In June, July and August, Hermitage Amsterdam will offer visitors a continuous programme of informal guided tours and special performances. The Study Centre will show Russian films, and for families there will be special activities in the Hermitage for Children. Every Wednesday the museum is open until 8 pm.
Sunsets (in association with the Film Museum), 22-25 July 2009
When the sun has set, and with weather permitting, the garden of Hermitage Amsterdam will host the popular outdoor film shows presented by the Film Museum in July. The theme of the Sunsets programme will be Russian literature of the nineteenth century.
The Grachtenfestival, 15-23 August 2009
The Grachtenfestival has a Russian flavour and so is completely at home at the Hermitage Amsterdam. The Festival opens on 15 August with The Village Wedding, a performance based on works by Igor Stravinsky. The garden of Hermitage Amsterdam provides the perfect setting for this celebration of folk rituals from the Russian countryside. An important feature of the Grachtenfestival the Russians in Residence programme. In a series of performances each day in the Chapel of Hermitage Amsterdam, audiences will hear the finest music and stories about the past and distant travels, presented by the many remarkable Russian musicians who live in Europe.
Uitmarkt 28-30 August 2009
The Uitmarkt organisation has chosen the Hermitage Amsterdam as one of the main locations for Uitmarkt 2009. Various performances and concerts will be held in the auditorium, the Chapel and the garden.
