Frequently Asked Questions
Autumn in Hermitage Amsterdam
September 2009 – January 2010
Wednesday Cultural Soirees
Beginning in September 2009, a programme of soirees will take place on Wednesdays, when the exhibition At the Russian Court remains open until 8 pm. After 8 pm, visitors may proceed from the exhibition into the auditorium or the Chapel, to enjoy performances, films, lectures, debates, concerts, dance and much more.
Saturday afternoon readings and free informal guided tours
Every Saturday there are talks at 2 pm. These events are free for exhibition visitors and provide an opportunity to explore a vast range of subjects. Some relate to the exhibition At the Russian Court, such as the history of the tsars, etiquette at the court or the development of fans as an essential fashion accessory. Others include the conversion of the Amstelhof into a museum, or nineteenth-century Russian court music. There are also free informal guided tours of the building or the exhibition.
Sunday Concerts
On Sunday mornings there are concerts of religious music in the Chapel, and in the afternoon there will be various musical performances, including choirs with a Russian repertoire.
Courses
At the Hermitage Amsterdam you will also find a broad range of courses in art history organised by the Vrije Academie, as well as courses in the Russian language and culture. For more information: www.kunstgeschiedenis.nl or www.ikspreekrussisch.nl
Hermitage for Children
Hermitage for Children will offer a special programme of family events for parents and children. Further details will be available from 1 August.
