Frequently Asked Questions
Study Centre
On the ground floor of the museum’s Herenvleugel (the wing overlooking Nieuwe Herengracht), you will find the Study Centre. It contains a wealth of information for visitors eager to learn more about all sorts of subjects relating to the Hermitage Amsterdam.
On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Study Centre is reserved for secondary-school students. Individual students, as well as groups, can take advantage of a range of teaching modules, in preparation for a visit to the exhibition.
The centre’s 16 computers and several touch screens can be used to look up information, for instance, about the subjects of the exhibitions and the collection of the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.
Visitors can also access the film archives of the Hermitage Amsterdam here. This means that it is possible to view videos made of earlier exhibitions at the Hermitage Amsterdam.
The Study Centre also contains the library of the Hermitage Amsterdam: handbooks and reference works, with special emphasis on the collections of the Hermitage in St Petersburg and other Russian museums. These books are not lent out, but they can be requested and studied at the Study Centre. The Adlib system provides access to the entire register.
A special film programme related to the exhibition is screened every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
