Concert 'Romantic Souls' by Arcadië Trio

Sunday March 24 2019
2 PM in the Church Hall

The Arcadië Trio takes you on a musical journey from Beethoven’s Gassen of Vienna, where everyone sung or whistled popular opera arias on the streets, to Glinka’s Grand Tour. In his Trio Pathétique you will not only recognise Bellini and Donizetti belcantos, two composers he met in Italy, but also perceive his lovesickness. At least as exhilarating are the Balkan Dances by Serbian composer Marko Tajcevic. Because of their uplifting rhythms and melancholic tunes, listeners will soon feel like they are in the Balkans. With Steven Geraads (clarinet), Timothée Busch(cello), Henriëtte Wirth (piano)

'100 Years!' cello sonatas by female composers

Sunday April 7 2019
2 PM in the Church Hall

1919 was an important year for Dutch women: with the introduction of universal suffrage, they finally obtained the right to vote. 100 years after, cellist Emma Mercedes Besselaar and pianist Antonio Oyarzabal will bring a programme exclusively with works by female composers: sonatas by Dutch Henriëtte Bosmans and British Rebecca Clarke, both composed in 1919, and works by Russian composer Lera Auerbach. Three works that are not often performed, but which are absolutely worth listening. They were all written by important women in music history.
