HART Magazine and H’ART Museum reach arrangement
HART Magazine and H’ART Museum have reached a settlement by mutual agreement. On 26 June, Hermitage Amsterdam announced that as of 1 September it would continue its activities under the name H’ART Museum. The Belgian art magazine HART made a legal objection to the new name on the grounds that it would cause confusion.
Both parties have reached a mutual agreement. HART Magazine will maintain its editorial independence by changing its name. This means that the art magazine will be published under a new name from September.
Kathleen Weyts, editor-in-chief of HART Magazine: “In the last few days we have been able to come to clear and effective agreements with the museum that guarantee the independence of both parties. I’m glad that we were able to avoid a summary procedure and that we can now restore the positive focus on the publication of our magazine’s first international issue. The new name is still under development. We expect to be able to make an official announcement within a few weeks”.
The new name of HART Magazine will be revealed during Brussels Gallery Weekend on 7 September 2023.
Annabelle Birnie, director Hermitage Amsterdam: “I’m pleased that, after careful deliberation, we have reached an agreement that will allow both parties to focus on their respective futures. We wish the art magazine a successful international launch. Our summer will be marked by the gradual transition from Hermitage to H’ART Museum”.
Both parties will continue, each in its own way, to make art and culture accessible to a wide audience.
No further announcements will be made regarding the details of the arrangement.
