Exhibition program H'ART Museum 2024 - 2028 announced
The highlights of the program for the next five years are known. For more than 15 years, the H'ART Museum building has been a beloved art destination. A beautiful place to which we will bring famous art, and their diverse stories, from all over the world in unique exhibitions in the coming years.
The program for 2024 - 2028 is organized in collaboration with our new museum partners: Centre Pompidou, British Museum and Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Exhibition program 2024 - 2028 H'ART Museum
2024 – 2025: Kandinsky & David Levinthal
This summer, H'ART Museum and the Centre Pompidou will launch their collaboration with a major exhibition about Wassily Kandinsky (Moscow 1866 - Paris 1944). The Centre Pompidou holds one of the world’s most renowned collections of the artist’s work. Among the absolute highlights of the show will be a life-size reconstruction of the Salon de Réception of the Juryfreie exhibition in Berlin (1922). With more than 60 artworks from the Centre Pompidou collection, the exhibition will provide a close look at Kandinsky's artistic oeuvre: a personal journey that made him one of the great founders of abstract art.
The year will reach a festive conclusion with the launch of H’ART Museum’s collaboration with the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM). Featuring the remarkable presentation American Myth and Memory: David Levinthal Photographs. David Levinthal (b. 1949) creates photographs that explore the cultural prominence of quintessential American subjects and the influence of mass media in mythologizing them. H'ART Museum is collaborating with SAAM on this European first.

2025 – 2026: Rembrandt & Brancusi
In 2025, H’ART Museum will celebrate the 750th anniversary of the city of Amsterdam with an exhibition devoted to the daily life and character of the Dutch people in the seventeenth century. Organized with The Leiden Collection, it will feature over a dozen paintings by the Netherlands’ most iconic artist: Rembrandt van Rijn. Also included in this exhibition will be other masterpieces from Rembrandt’s circle in Amsterdam as well as his hometown, Leiden. This project marks the second collaboration between H’ART Museum and The Leiden Collection, founded by the Franco-American collector, Dr. Thomas S. Kaplan, and his wife Daphne Recanati Kaplan.
In the second half of the year, Centre Pompidou icon Constantin Brancusi (Hobita/Romania 1876 – Paris 1957) will take center stage. The Paris Museum houses his entire studio, bequeathed by the artist to France. This exhibition brings together major works by the founder of modern sculpture, whose only retrospective in the Netherlands dates back more than 50 years.

2026 – 2027: Matisse & USA
In 2026, H'ART Museum and the Centre Pompidou will bring to Amsterdam one of the most well-known and popular artists of all time: Henri Matisse (Le Cateau-Cambrésis 1869 – Nice 1954).
2026 also marks 250 years of American-Dutch relations. The Netherlands were one of the first nations to recognize the independence of the United States. In collaboration with the Smithsonian American Art Museum, H’ART Museum will reflect on this special jubilee with programming that is currently being developed; details will be announced in due course.

2027 – 2028: Feminine Power & Surrealism
2027 kicks off with the first exhibition to be held in collaboration with H'ART Museum's British partner. Under the title Feminine Power, H'ART Museum and the British Museum will present an exhibition on the profound and diverse power of goddesses, witches, female saints and spirits in global belief. This will be followed in the second half of the year by an extraordinary exhibition on Surrealism. Organized by H’ART Museum and the Centre Pompidou featuring works by Giorgio de Chirico (Greece 1888 – Italy 1978), Salvador Dali (Spain 1904 – 1989), Max Ernst (Germany 1891 – France 1976), René Magritte (Belgium 1898 – 1967) and Toyen (Czech Republic 1902 – France 1980).

2028: Léger
In 2028, H’ART Museum and the Centre Pompidou will dedicate an exhibition to Fernand Léger (France 1881– 955), one of the most famous figures in the whole adventure of modernity. The exhibition will embrace his entire career in all its diversity. From the cubist avant-garde period to his communist commitment, Léger's painting remains associated with his vision of humanity, transfigured by machines and mass production. Other exhibitions for 2028 are currently under consideration.
